What is the difference between the NHCC Foundation and the NHCC?

The NHCC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization that exists to raise funds for the needs of the NHCC and is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. The NHCC is a state institution – a division within the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs – and is governed by the NHCC Executive Director and a Board of Directors appointed by the Governor of the State of New Mexico. The NHCC presents over 700 events and dozens of exhibitions a year, and operates the 20-acre campus on which the NHCC and NHCC Foundation exist. The NHCC Foundation operates a membership program in coordination with the NHCC, holds member events, and carries out many different fundraising initiatives.

What is Maravilla?

Maravilla is the NHCC Foundation’s largest, annual fundraising event. It’s a day in September that highlights a category of Hispanic culture with food, entertainment and silent and live auctions. The proceeds from this event are used to support the Foundation’s operating expenses and NHCC’s programming. To become a sponsor, please contact Anna Sanchez at asanchez@nhccfoundation.org.

Why should I give to the Foundation?

Your gift has the power to help the NHCC provide programming and exhibitions for over 280,000 people a year, many of which are children. Donations are used to preserve and grow our visual arts, history and literary arts collections. While the NHCC is a state-funded institution, it receives no public funding for its programs or exhibitions. NHCC depends wholly on the generous support of donors like you for the events, exhibitions and collections that make its 20-acre campus a beloved cultural home for so many New Mexicans and New Mexico visitors.
