The NHCC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees that exists to raise funds for the needs of the NHCC. The NHCC is a state institution – a division within the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs – and is governed by the NHCC Executive Director and a Board of Directors appointed by the Governor of the State of New Mexico. As a government institution, it receives significant operational support from the State of New Mexico.
However, the NHCC receives no public funding for its programs. This means that 100 percent of the NHCC’s programming and exhibitions are made possible purely through the support of donors and sponsors that contribute to the NHCC Foundation.
This dual public/private support enables the NHCC to have a tremendous impact on the local economy annually, including:
- Providing some 30,000 New Mexico students with educational experiences at and through the NHCC.
- Providing over $150,000 worth of in-kind services to performing arts companies, directly contributing to the vibrant performing arts network in Albuquerque and New Mexico.
- Contributing nearly $700,000 to New Mexico-resident artists and performing arts companies.
- Welcoming over 31,000 people to Albuquerque, NM generating an indirect economic impact for Albuquerque of more than $9.3 million.
